School-run.org is a website which enables you to find other local parents with whom you can share the school run.
Whether you'd like your children to walk, cycle or be driven to school, we'll put you in touch with other parents who can help to accompany them to school.
The aim of School-run.org is to give children and parents increased opportunities to travel in a healthy and sustainable way, in order to reduce congestion and pollution in the local area.
Parents with children at participating schools can register on-line for free.
Your status as a parent of a child at a particular school will be guaranteed through a password or by the school secretary.
Once you've been confirmed as a parent you'll be sent a password enabling you to search for other parents with whom to share the school run.
You can then make contact with any parent you choose, through a secure e-mail, and arrange to meet them to discuss sharing the school run.
Who set up the School-run.org?
The scheme has been set up by Liftshare.com, the UK's largest car-sharing scheme.
The safety of children and parents is key to the success of the scheme. Below are just some of the safety measures we've taken to protect both you and your children:

What are the financial benefits of sharing journeys?
Where parents are driving their children to and from school, we suggest they take it in turns, thereby sharing the costs of travel and the time associated with getting children to school. However where this is not possible we recommend that non-driving parents offer the driving parent 10p per mile for each passenger child.
Therefore as a driver...
...whilst as a non-driving parent you can get your child to school for less than 50p each day!
The School-run.org scheme is available completely FREE to any parents with children at participating schools.
All you have to do is find your school on the Home Page and register your details
If your school isn't already registered with the scheme we suggest you contact your school secretary and/or local Council and ask them to register with School-run.org immediately.

How do I edit my e-mail address, password etc?
You can change your e-mail address and password by going to Edit Password and Email. To change any other information please contact us at support@school-run.org.
What are the chances of finding a perfect match to my requirements?
We can't guarantee that you'll find a perfect match to your requirements, but it's likely that you'll find someone with whom to share at least part of your school run.
Will my personal information be available to other members?
The only information that is available to other users is your 'usually called' name, the street where you live and the name of the school that your child or children attend/s.
What are the insurance implications of sharing the school run?
"Participating in the lift-share scheme will not invalidate drivers' motor insurance", says Vic Rance of the Association of British Insurers.
"Drivers in doubt should contact their insurers".
Sharing the school run should not increase your insurance costs, though charging passengers more than their share of the running cost can invalidate your cover.
How do I contact the other parents?
Having selected a suitable parent with who to share the school run you should make contact through the secure e-mail system on the site.
Your e-mail will be sent to them, and will inform them of your e-mail so that they can confirm any arrangements.
We suggest that you agree a time and place to meet, so that you can finalise the details face to face.
What happens if the school-run falls through?
School-run.org is only responsible for assisting you in finding people with whom to share the school run, and we cannot be held responsible for any journeys that don't work out as planned.
If for one reason or another the school run falls through, all affected parents should be contacted as soon as possible. Where possible another parent, who is part of the School-run.org scheme, could drive the children to school.
What happens if, for some reason, I can't do the school run?
You should ring the other parents with as much notice as possible and explain that you can't do the school run.
